Interpreting: 4 ways to satisfy your interpreting needs

Simultaneous interpreting

This kind of interpreting takes place in real time: the interpreter translates the message into the target language as it is being spoken in the source language, meaning there is no delay in communication. It requires the installation of the appropriate equipment (portable or fixed booths, individual headsets, etc.).

Whispered interpreting

This variation on simultaneous interpreting is suitable for a maximum of two people for a short period of time. The interpreter listens to the speaker's message and whispers the translation to the person being addressed.

Consecutive interpreting
In this case, the interpreter takes notes while the speaker delivers a speech and then summarizes the message in the target language. No technical equipment is necessary but meetings last much longer.

Liaison interpreting
Here, the interpreter stands among the event participants and translates the comments of the various speakers aloud or with the help of some light portable equipment. This is an ideal method for on-site visits and tours.

Taking the location as well as the number of participants and languages into account, Sémantis will advise you on the method best suited to you.
